Founded in 1957 and known in the markets as Bacalanor, West Norway AS has spent more than six decades perfecting the export of dry-salted fish. Today we rank among the world's three largest exporters of bacalhau, shipping around 22,000 tonnes every year to retailers and distributors across four continents.
From our head office in Ålesund and our office in Qingdao, we combine Norwegian tradition with the reach of a modern, global supplier — delivering salted, desalted and frozen fish of consistent, dependable quality, backed by full traceability and food-safety control.

Part of something larger
West Norway is part of the Jangaard Export group — a family of seafood companies rooted in Ålesund, whose work in the Norwegian fish trade reaches back to 1931. Together we cover the entire journey from the catch to the plate: sourcing along the coast, wet- and dry-salting, freezing, brokerage, worldwide export — and, in Italy, bringing the finished product right to the consumer.
